Nobody: Why does the increasing number of high school students demonstrate little or no desire to learn? Can we in clear conscious lay exclusive blame on the students themselves, or is the apathy toward learning a byproduct of a generation raised on iPods, cell phones, video games, TV, and movies (with bigger than life special effects)? Perhaps the apathy arises from sources unseen or even ignored. In Nobody, readers follow the life of the title character as he struggles to attach some understanding to the unforgiving world that seems determined to consume him. At school, he’s confronted with indifferent administrators, both over demanding and hardhearted teachers, and a variety of bullies. At home, he’s simply left alone—forgotten—to fend for himself. His father is long gone and barely a memory. His mother isn’t abusive or cruel, yet she’s more concerned with surviving her own life than being a mother to Nobody. Therefore, all Nobody can hope for in life is to survive, one minute at a time, which leaves little ambition for homework. Even though life seems like a sick, twisted joke with the laugh always at his expense, Nobody searches inside himself to find strength to endure. |
Beyond Forever’s End: Hold fast to your skivvies, strap yourself in, and sign on with Christian Daring for an adventure beyond forever’s end. Watch out! Many perils—steaming piles of dragon droppings, yellow snow, and the most ruthless stalks of gray-blue asparagus this side of Orion’s Belt—are raring to malice even the most seasoned star travelers. Beyond Forever’s End: Christian Daring and the Ultimate Warrior of the Prophecy is bursting with swashbuckling action/adventure, the mysticism of a prophecy, and gut busting, tear inspiring, bladder loosening humor. Inspired by the prophecy to discover the Ultimate Warrior, Christian and his crew of Aalbourian freedom fighters must brave both the dangers and wonders of the universe to save their world from the Zlogarian conquerors, who are led by Imperial Dictator Umek Duerr. Throughout his journey, Christian visits bizarre alien worlds, and he makes friends among alien pirates, dragons, dragon lords, bug people, and robots. All the while, Christian and his comrades must outwit the ever-pursuing Zlogarian forces. |
The Emperor is Naked: The Testament of Guy MacAdam is a novel written in poetic verse that takes readers on a journey through the thoughts, feelings, and personal experiences of Guy MacAdam. Within his journal, Guy MacAdam tries to create a personal understanding of what he observes, regarding family values, personal relationships, education, religion, popular culture, society’s values, politics, media, employment, and personal aspirations; at times, he is angered with, bewildered by, disgusted with, and amused by these facets of human existence. Generally, he is in tune with the world around him, yet he is unable to sort out the confusion or reach any solid conclusions. Guy MacAdam may be considered a cynic, a chronic complainer, or just an ordinary fool; nonetheless, he stands firmly in his defiance of the human philosophy “That’s just the way it is.” |
